Matthew Gollub (pronounced GAH-lub) is not just an award-winning author. He combines storytelling, drumming, clapping and more to thoroughly engage listeners of all ages. He also teaches families how and when to read for FUN.
Why for FUN? So that children read more.
Reading is the KEY to success in school and beyond. But only
46% of families actually read to their kids!
What you and your children will experience:
- VISUAL! Matthew demonstrates his creative reading using drums, windchimes, call and response, etc.
- AUDITORY! Matthew's narrations are set to jazz
- PRACTICAL INFORMATION! Preparing your child for kindergarten - Getting older kids to read on their own - Re-arranging your furniture to help your child read better - saving your child from too much TV and videogames
Goals of our Children's Author Event
To create a greater desire among youngsters to read and express themselves in writing
To provide parents and teachers with valuable strategies
To involve students in spirited performances by a uniquely
talented author and to hear firsthand about the creation of his
acclaimed books
Our Author --- Matthew Gollub
Matthew is a nationally-acclaimed author and speaker from the Bay Area.He has created 15 children's books, including books with CDs, which together have garnered 25 national awards and distinctions. He has also performed in 1,000 schools around the U.S. and abroad.
As a speaker, Matthew entertains and inspires with energized, heartfelt and memorable presentations. He draws on his background. Not only is he an author but he is a publisher musician, parent, and even a soccer coach! In his presentations, he interweaves storytelling and drumming. He shows slides, calls on volunteers, and invites lots of participation.
He includes a great deal of action for the children. For example, in one story a resourceful cow stages a lunar ballet. A jazz fly swings to rhythm and rhyme. Percussion, slides, and a mix of English, Spanish and Japanese capture young imaginations throughout the story.

Until you experience an event by Matthew Gollub, you simply cannot appreciate what he does for kids!" Quote from Maria Cervantes, Principal at Heritage Elementary School in Lodi CA
Why should you come with your students and/or children?
Boost your children's enjoyment of readng!
Encourage your children to enjoy reading!
Learn fun proven reading strategies!
Did you know? When adults talk to kids, they use a vocabulary of 1,000 words, such as sit, run, bus, and school.
But by the end of 4th grade, children encounter 19,000 different words in print. These include more sophisticated terms like slither, flutter, navigate and microbe.
ONLY BY READING can children build the vocabulary necessary to keep up with school in the upper grades.
